Police took Prashandsingh Chhetri, a resident of Melauli municipality-1 in Baitadi for investigation in connection with the suspicious death of 19-year-old Sabitri Chand of Melauli municipality-7 Banali. Sabitri was found dead hanging from a tree near her house on Wednesday. Police arrested Chhetri after the deceased's father lodged a complaint against him at District Police Office Baitadi accusing him of inciting the girl to commit suicide by raping her.

Police are investigating into the incident by holding Chhetri into custody. The district court ordered Chhetri to be remanded into 3 more days for investigation. Police found his purse, citizenship certificate and rupees ten thousand while searching the deceased girl's room. The deceased is a grade 12 student of Manilek Secondary School in Kanda of Melauli.

Demanding proper investigation and severe against the perpetrator, the victim's family have refused to receive her body.
