A woman has sustained a serious injury after being attacked with a sharp weapon in Jhapa. An unidentified group attacked Aarati Chauhan (Budhathoki) of  Mechinagar municipality-10 who was sleeping with her 7-year-old daughter Arpana on Wednesday night with khukuri.

According to DSP Mahesh Thapa of Area Police Office Kakkadbhitta, Chauhan was sent to B and C hospital in Birtamode after she could not be treated at Amda hospital in Dhulabari.

Although it was revealed that two men bearing khukuri attacked Chauhan at mid-night, police could not establish their identity. The victim's daughter told the police that, two men attacked her mother on the head with khukuri while they were preparing to sleep after dinner. The incident became public only in the morning after the girl shouted for help. Chauhan was found lying in a pool of blood.

Police are looking for the attackers and are further investigating on the incident.
