Police arrests couple on the charge of demanding ransom by threatening to kidnap

Police arrested a couple from Kathmandu on the charge of trying to extort money from Sitaram Karki, a pharmacy operator in Buddhanagar.
The arrested have been identified as 24-year-old Lokendra Bahadur Shahi of Kailali and 20-year-old Rubi Thakur.
According to SSP Sahakul Bahadur Thapa of Metropolitan criminal investigation branch, the arrested are lovers. Shahi threatened to kidnap and murder Karki's son if he failed to pay him rupees five lakhs. Police arrested them from Gaushala.
Police are further investigating the incident.
