Biplav’s bandh partially affects life across Nepal

2019-05-27

A nationwide general strike called by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ led Communist Party of Nepal has partially affected daily life across the country.

The party imposed the general strike protesting the death of its cadre Tirtha Ghimire, claiming he died in a police firing.

As the party allegedly planted explosives in different places of the capital on Sunday afternoon, many motorists have kept their vehicles in garage.

While Kathmanduites would defy previous bandhs, the impact of general strike today seems greater than normal. The impact of the strike outside the capital is even greater.

Major highways of the country and streets in cities and towns outside the capital have worn a deserted look. Academic institutions, businesses and markets have shut down.

Meanwhile, the government has called on the citizens to operate their businesses smoothly, assuring sufficient security.
