Employees of Bhaktapur hospital have resorted to protests after the hospital management decided to withhold employee benefits. Agitating employees have been demanding benefits such as provident fund, dearness allowance, and uniform allowance.
The hospital staffs have warned that they will shut down the hospital from Sunday if the management does not resume the facilities cut-off. Madan Deula, president of the protesting workers' organization, warned that hospital services would be stopped if their demands are not met by Sunday.
They blamed Dr. Suddha Devkota, Medical superintendent of the hospital for cutting off their facilities.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Devkota had written to the Ministry of Social Development under the government of the state saying that the development committee, contracts, contract workers were getting provident fund, dearness allowance and uniform allowance, vacations, and grades. According to the same letter, the Ministry of Social Development has cut-off the facilities.
Earlier, the staff had locked the offices of the Hospital Development Committee Chairman, Medical Superintendent, Administration, and Accounting Officer.
They have given time till Sunday to fulfill their demands to the Hospital Development Committee and the administration.
