Journalist Mistreated by Police for Taking Picture

Chief Siraha correspondent of the Anukalpa Rastriya Daily, Shambhu Kumar Yadav of Krisnapur7 has been mistreated by policemen for taking their pictures on February 7.

 

The journalist was mistreated when he tried to take a picture of a traffic policeman deflating the tire of a motorbike near Adalat Chowk.

 

Yadav said that a team of traffic police and Nepal police led by SI Raj Kumar Basnet of city police seized his camera and deleted the pictures. He added that they also took him in control for two hours.

 

SP Rajesh Lal Karna said that he was informed about the incident and assured that the guilty policemen would be punished after investigation.

 

Meanwhile, Secretary of Federation of Nepali Journalist (FNJ) Siraha chapter Jeevacha Udasi, Chairpersons of Madhes Media Mission Nepal Dineshwor Prasad Gupta, Chairperson of Press Chautari Nepal Siraha chapter Sunil Kumar Sah, Chairperson of Press Union Siraha Ram Babu Yadab, and Revolutionary Journalists Association issued a joint press statement today demanding immediate action against the guilty policemen.
