Sindhupalchok/ January 16 Udaya Lal Giri, 55, of Thulosirubari VDC-3 has been arrested by the police on January 15 on charge of raping a14-year-old girl. The victim lodged a complaint at District Police Office on January 15. The health checkup of the victim was performed at Chautara Hospital on the same day. The victim has been accusing Giri of raping her while she was alone at home on January 3. Saying that the accused settled the case in compromise with a promise of Rs 1,000 the next day. The girl filed the complaint after the accused refused to pay the amount, according to Durga Prasad Dhungel, Child Protection Committee. The accused has been kept at District Police Office for the further investigation, police said.
