Police baton-charge ruptures a citizen's eye vein in Siraha

On Monday,  Dhuran Mukhia a daily wage worker residing in ward number 17 of Siraha Municipality sustained serious injury to his eye when police patrolling the area during lock down baton charged at him. He was selling vegetables in front of his house when this incident took place. 

According to Mukhia he was injured by the baton charged at him by chief of Area Police Office Krishna Yadav. 

Doctor who attended him at Sagarmatha Eye Hospital said that veins of his eye had been ruptured and advised him to go to Kathmandu for treatment as it would take 8 -10 days to start his treatment in Sagarmatha Eye Hospital upon which he had to return home after getting minor treatment. 

Mukhia quoted the doctor and said that before the injury in the outer part of his eye is healed it is not possible to start treatment in the inner part and that it was uncertain if he could see again. 

Ward chairperson had informed about the incident to the mayor and Mukhia was assured of treatment and justice. 

However, chief of area police station Krishna Yadav said  Mukhia was injured not because of the baton charge but as a result of  banging his head on a pillar. 

Mukhia being a daily wage worker is finding it difficult for his treatment.
