2020-05-11

Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

Protesters in Kathmandu have burned the effigies of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Monday.

Around 30 persons had come to the streets of downtown Kathmandu protesting India’s announcement of the inauguration of a link road to Manasarovar that passes through Gunji village of the Nepali territory, and the Nepal government’s inability to reclaim the land.

Police immediately detained them. The chief of the Metropolitan Police Range in Kathmandu, SSP Shyam Lal Gyawali, says they were arrested for defying lockdown restrictions.

The protesters in Pokhara had burned an effigy of Modi on Sunday also.
