Bhutanese Refugee Injured in Police Firing

Jhapa, prahariko goli praharbata bhutani sharanarthi ghaite. A Bhutanese refugee who was absconding on various charges has been injured in police firing. Police arrested Ram Rai, 34, of Pathari Bhutanese Refugee in Morang after injuring him for allegedly trying to snatch the pistol of police in course of his arrested on February 28 at Damak Municipality-9. Plain clothe policemen had followed him from tea state in Damak. According to police, Rai retaliated when they arrest him in front of the Land Revenue Office in Damak-9 which led them to open firing. He sustained a bullet in his left abdomen. Rai was undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan after primary treatment in Lifeline Hospital Damak, said SP Mukunda Raj Acharya of District Police Office Jhapa. According to police, one home-made pistol and a round of bullet was also recovered from Rai. Police claimed that Rai alias Aita Singh Paluwa was involved in killing Dhan Bahadur Tamang of Sundarpur VDC-6 in Morang on December 24, 2013, looting Damak branch of Laxmi Bank, among other incidents.
