According to SP Purna Chandra Joshi of the District Police Office, the explosive device kept in a tin box of pan masala under the culvert near the boy's house went off when he tampered with the device. The boys sustained injuries to his hand, abdomen and other parts of the body. He is undergoing treatment in the District Hospital Siraha. SP Joshi suspected that the explosive device might have been kept by a group of thieves. He said that investigation was ongoing into the incident.
