Senior Citizens Warn of Self-Immolation

Lalitpur/ March 27 Senior Citizens Struggle Committee Chairperson, Maha Prasad Parajuli has warned of self-immolation at the end of this month if their demands are not met. Speaking with INSEC Lalitpur representative on March 27, he said that the agitation which started since 13 months for the rights of senior citizens has reached such situation that it cannot be withdrawn. Stating that five senior citizens agitating for the rights of senior citizens have died since March 7, 2013, Parajuli said that six other are ready for the self-immolation so that the future citizens can get their rights. They have been demanding 50% discount in fare of all means of transportation and health services with the increment in social security allowances to 3000 rupees. He further said that disregard of the Supreme Court decision to make provisions of 50 percent discount in hospital services and transportation fares to senior citizen is an insult of senior citizens.
