Metropolitan Police Circle, Kirtipur, have arrested 26-year-old Kishor Shahi from Chovar, Kathmandu, on a charge of burning a 12-year-old child with a hot spatula alleging she was suffered from witchcraft.
On September 7, Shahi, a permanent inhabitant of Bajura and living in Chovar, had burnt the sick child 4 times with a hot spatula claiming her of being attacked by a witch.
According to the SP Somendra Singh Rathore, spokesperson of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police, 4 per cent of the girl’s face was burnt after the incident. The victim child has been discharged after treatment in Kirtipur Hospital. The further investigation against Shahi is underway.
