44-year-old Gyan Kumari Puri (Giri) of Diktel Rupakot-Majhuwagadhi Municipality-2, Talkharka, died on October 9 at Khokseli near Halesi. Puri succumbed to injuries while on the way to Kathmandu District Hospital for further treatment. She was critically injured in a domestic dispute with her husband Dambar Bahadur Giri.
According to the locals, her husband hit her with a traditional grinding stone in her own house. She ran for her life and fell unconscious after reaching the house of her neighbour, Khadga Giri. According to eyewitnesses, Bahadur escaped after his wife lost consciousness. They have been running an eatery in Talkharka and had been quarrelling over alcohol before.
Chief of the District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police Narayan Prasad Chimariya said that an investigation has been started by mobilizing a team and search for the absconding Dambar Bahadur is going on. Her body was brought back to the district hospital for autopsy.
