Rautahat, boksi ko arop ma kutpit. RAUTAHAT: A 40-year-old woman from Patharabudhram VDC in Rautahat was thrashed black and blue by locals of another village today on the charge of practising black magic. Family members of Ram Aashish Ray Yadav had beaten Hari Krishna Prasad Jayaswal’s wife Renu Devi. Renu has received cuts and bruises on her head, chest, and other body parts. She is undergoing treatment at Rautahat District Hospital, police said. The victim said some members from Yadav’s family had attacked her when she was alone at her home accusing her of influencing Ram Aashish’s 10-year-old granddaughter with black magic. According to eyewitnesses, Harendra Yadav and his wife; Jogindra Yadav and his wife; and Mangal Yadav, among others, had attacked Renu when she was alone at home. Her husband Hari Krishna is employed abroad, while her son is studying in Gaur. “When I was sitting outside my home, some members from Yadav’s family yanked my hair and attacked me on the charge of influencing their daughter with black magic,” the victim said from the hospital bed. Neighbours and people from across the border rescued me from further beating, Renu said. Her son-in-law from across the border had taken her to the hospital. “Had the neighbours not arrived on time, they would have beaten me to death,” Renu said with tears in her eyes. Her son-in-law Rakesh Kumar Jayaswal demanded strong action against people involved in the incident. Rautahat DSP Bhim Prasad Dhakal said that a police team had been deployed to arrest the guilty as their involvement in the incident was confirmed. “Investigation has started,” DSP Dhakal added.
