Kapilvastu,samuhik balatkaari haru virudh ujuri. KAPILVASTU, JUN 02 - A 17-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped in Budhdhi VDC in the district on Thursday night. The incident came to light after two days as villagers failed to settle the case in the local level. Police investigation reveals that Mandip Tharu, a resident of Budhdhi-2, called the victim at the Budhdhi lake where he had called his four friends. The victim, according to police, had love affairs with Mandip so she went to the site in the late evening. The girl told police that she tried to escape upon seeing four other persons with her friend. But the perpetrators captured her and committed the crime. The girl is receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Taulihawa. Along with Mandip, Radhe Tharu, Shankar Dev Tharu, Bajarangi Tharu and Sunil Tharu of Budhdhi-2 were allegedly involved in the crime. The victim’s relative lodged a complaint with police demanding strong action against the perpetrators. Police Inspector Bimal Kumar Upadhyay at the Area Police Post in Gorusinge said preliminary investigation shows that three of the suspects raped the victim in turn while two others abetted the perpetrators in the crime. Local residents, however, claimed all five persons were involved in the incident. All the accused are on the run. The crime came to light only after two days as it could not be settled in the village, police said. Some locals exerted pressure to silence the victim’s family. SP Rabindra Kumar Sharma assured that police would probe the incident and bring the guilty to book soon. According to a police officer, they have been facing problems in the investigation as they were informed 30 hours after the incident.
