Khotang/July 2 District Court has sent Bishwas Sampang Khambu, a member of Khambuwan Rastriya Morcha to three months in prison and fined Rs 1,000 convicting him of extortion. The decision came on July 1 whereas Khambu was arrested by the police on September 21, 2012. Single bench of Judge Ishwari Prasad Gautam made the decision as per Section 13 of Donations Act 2030 (1973), Court staff Charendra Prasad Acharya informed. He is currently being held in Khotang Prison, Diktel. Khambu was arrested with a weapon at Baxila VDC. The District Court had demanded Rs 20,000 as bail for his release. He went to jail after he could not deposit the money. Acharya said that Khambu had been convicted of extorting Rs 15,700 from the local school teaches and businessmen, which the court wants back from him. The charge under Arms and Ammunition Act 2019 (1963) is going on at District Administration Office. Another accused of the case, Bichari Giri, of the same group has been acquitted.
