Police arrested six people, including a ward member, of Lungri rural municipality for the charge of allegedly conspiring to settle a rape case. Before their arrest, police had arrested a 51-year-old man on the charge of raping his 27-year-old sister-in-law. Among the arrested are Him Bahadur Bisht, Durga Bisht, Navin Bisht, Pusta Bisht, Puste Khadka and the victim's father-in-law.
The incident took place at 3 am on July 17. The father-in-law had heard the victim screaming when the incident took place. After finding out about the incident, the father-in-law informed Him Bahadur Bisht to discuss the incident. He had gathered people at a place in the village to discuss the incident. During the discussion, the accused brother-in-law had admitted that he had committed rape. They tried to settle the case with a fine of Rs.20,000.
