July 25, Police have arrested Sunsari chairperson of Khambuwan Rastriya Morcha Nepal Party, Shikhar Rai Khambu, of Dharan Municipality-11 on July 24 on charge of extortion. According to DSP Sanjay Singh Thapa of Dharan Area Police Office, Khambu was arrested with Rs 50,000 extorted from Shanta Rai of Dharan Municipality-17. Police added that Shanta had paid the money after Khambu said that he could ensure release of her brother Kishor Kumar Rai, 26, who is currently in Area police custody on public offence case. Khambu also named Radhika Rai, Kalpana Shrestha and Umesh Rai as his accomplices. Shikar was the Proportional System candidate on CA election 2013 from the party.
