Explosion Victims Face Fund Crunch

July 28, Family of Khemlal Panthi, 13, of Dhamir VDC-9 has been facing financial difficulties after he got injured playing an explosive device. A seventh grader at Devisthan Higher Secondary School, the boy found the bomb at his cattle-shed and brought it home on July 13. He has sustained splinter injuries in right hand and face. Panthi, who was brought to Tamghas Hospital, was referred to United Mission Hospital, Palpa where he is being kept at ICU. His uncle Lilaram Panthi said that they had borrowed Rs 30,000 for the boy’s treatment which has been spent. Lok Kumari Panthi said that their expense has crossed Rs 50,000 in the treatment and their accommodation. She said that her brother-in-law, Lilaram has gone to the village to find borrow more money as her husband had just recently gone to Qatar for foreign employment adding until Lilaram comes back, they could not even leave the hospital. District Police Office, Gulmi’s Inspector Rajendra Prasad Shrestha said that though they managed to rescue the boy and send him to the hospital in Palpa, they could not collect fund for his treatment.
