The son of Gangaram Chanara, Ward Chairman of Athabiskot Municipality-10 of Rukum West is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl living in a children's home. The victim lodged a complaint at the Area Police Office, Athabiskot, on September 5 alleging that Gangaram forced her into labour work and his son Kushmakhar Chanara (Ravi) raped her. The complaint of labour exploitation has been lodged against Kushmakhar's father Gangaram and mother Sunita Chanara. The victim mentioned in the complaint that the son of the ward chairman has repeatedly raped her for two years and she is currently eight to ten weeks pregnant.
According to the complaint, Sunita, the owner of the orphanage, used to take the girl to her house at Athabiskot-10 under the pretext of lockdown at the end of April 2020. Kushmakhar has absconded after a complaint was lodged against him with the police. Police said that the search for him is on and that Gangaram and Sunita were brought to the police station for questioning.
