He added that the quota of 10,500 quintals of rice was sold out while new stock allocated for the new fiscal year was yet to arrive. Niraula added that the long drought lead to low harvest was also to blame for the shortage. A local Narjit Pariyar complained that there was no equality while distributing the rice and only the people having contacts were able to buy it. He said that lack of rice has led people to resort to instant noodles and beaten rice too.
