During a football match on October 17 at Kamidanda in Bethanchowk rural municipality ward no. 5 of Kavre district, a fight broke out after a disagreement between the organizers and the football players. The Active Social Service Youth Club's 'Bethanchowk Mahabharat Football Cup' began on October 14. Ward 4 had lost the game, according to the police. The ward's players had demanded that the losing team be allowed to play as well. However, the organizers refused to agree, escalating the dispute.
During the scuffle, 31-year-old football game organizer Nir Bikram Lama, also a secretary of active social worker youth club Bethanchowk Rural Municipality-6, fell off a cliff and broke his ribs. Similarly, 26-year-old football player Raghuvir Tamang, of Bethanchowk Rural Municipality-4 has broken both his legs.
