Life term sought for rapists

KATHMANDU: Lawmakers expressed their anguish in the House on Thursday over the rape of an 18-year-old Rukum girl that allegedly took place at Nepalgunj Bus Park on Wednesday. Lawmakers took special time in the Parliament to raise the incident, along with Chari killing. They demanded stringent punishment for the alleged rapists of the Rukum girl – Ajit Sunar and Suman BC. Most of the lawmakers demanded life imprisonment for the alleged rapists but NC’s Rukum lawmaker Mithu Malla demanded death penalty for the culprits. CPN-UML lawmaker Gaura Prasai Koirala, Kalsa Devi Mahara of the UML, Unified CPN-Maoist’s Rekha Sharma, UML’s Ganga Lal Tuladhar, Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal’s Kunti Shahi, CPN-UML’s Prakash Jwala and Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party’s Prem Suwal expressed their outrage at the incident. Speaker Nembang also condemned the incident.
