Upper Trishuli-1 Korean contractor physically assaulted by the locals in Rasuwa

A group of disgruntled locals attacked a representative of the contractor for the 216 MW Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project, which is being built in Rasuwa with foreign direct investment. Two foreign technicians were injured in the attack, according to a project official. Rasuwa District Officer Nawaraj stated that a disgruntled group arrived at the project site and began fighting, claiming that locals such as Nawaraj were not given work and that locally produced products were not used during construction.

Sino Hydro, a Chinese contractor, is building structures such as the main entrance tunnel, cable tunnel, and main tunnel. However, after repeated disputes over the project, the construction company informed the Chinese and Korean embassies and the Ministry of Home Affairs, a company official said.
