CIAA arrests 6 including 3 officials for land forgery

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday said it arrested six persons including three government officials and three members of public for investigation into a land forgery case. Issuing a press statement, the anti-corruption constitutional body said they were arrested in connection to an attempt to register a guthi land in a person's name in Saraswati VDC-6 on the outskirts of Kathmandu. The arrestees are Guthi Samsthan Tripureshwor's Assistant Administrator, Megh Raj Sapkota and Senior Assistant Hari Bhattarai and Section Officer of the Land Revenue Office, DilliBazaar, Sitaram Pokhrel. LIkewise, Kabindra Maharjan, Rabindra Maharjan and Surendra Raj Joshi were also held for submitting a fake application for the registration. The commission said the arrests were made as per Section 16(1) of the CIAA Act, 1991. According to the CIAA, another suspect in the case, DilliBazaar Land Revenue Office's Nayab Subba Ganesh Bahadur Bhatta is on the run.
