Search for missing yet to begin in Surkhet

Surkhet,Harayeka haruko khoj suru garna ajhai baaki. SURKHET: Search operation is yet to be carried out to find out the status of people missing in the devastating floods in Surkhet last Thursday. The relatives of missing people today accused the local administration of being apathetic about missing people. As many as 29 persons were killed in different parts in the district while 111 are still missing. Ninety-seven people have gone missing from the western part of the district alone. UML Surkhet leader Kabindra KC said the search for the missing was yet to be launched. “Even people who were rescued received nothing more than common relief. Given the situation, who is going to search for those missing? KC asked. Some families even do not have members to perform the final rites. Local Sher Bahadur BK said that the entire village had turned barren and they could not carry out the search operation either. The status of 13 family members of Dharma Tamata, 15, of Tatopani Galfa is unknown. The flooded Bheri River had swept away all his family members last Thursday. “The chance of missing family members returning is almost nil,” Dharma said. Sher Bahadur said that there was no one to assist Dharma if he sat to perform the final rites of his family members. Dharma’s father Dalab and uncle are employed in India. “According to Surkeht DAO, 29 in Tatopani, 25 in Haripur, 24 in Taraga, 15 each in Babiyachaur and Satakhani and one each in Birendranagar, Lekhparajul and Matela have gone missing. Assistant Chief District Officer Jagat Bahadur Basnet said they were zeroing on rescue and relief operation.
