BHAKTAPUR: A woman died after a bus heading to Kathmandu from Banepa knocked the scooter she was riding on in Sallaghari of Bhaktapur district, today. Bindu Rai (37) of Jhapa district, who is temporarily living in Kaushaltar of Bhaktapur died after the over-speeding bus (Ba 1 Kha 9281) hit her scooter (Ba 57 7779) parked on the roadside in front of the Metropolitan Traffic Police Circle, Sallaghari, along the Araniko Highway. Locals in Sallaghari area vandalised and set the bus on fire, claiming the accident occurred due to negligence of the driver. Police and locals clashed after the police baton charged on the demonstrators to clear the road and pick up the body for postmortem. In the clash, some locals sustained minor injuries. The agitating locals prevented police from removing the body for 45 minutes. The accident occurred at around 11:00 am.
