CPN (Maoist Centre) cadres clash in Sindhupalchowk over candidacy in local level election

Police fired tear gas to disrupt a clash between two groups of CPN (Maoist  Centre) at Chautara Municipality of Sindhupalchowk on April 25. The clash took place between supporters of the party's official candidate for the mayor's post and the supporters of opposing group.

Sindhupalchowk Chief District Officer (CDO) Bed Nidhi Khanal said police, Armed Police Force (APF) were mobilized and few rounds of tear gas were also fired to bring the situation under control.

Chautara CPN (Maoist Centre) leader Amansingh Tamang said the clash took place as the party preferred to distribute tickets to those staying in Kathmandu instead of local aspirants. He added, “I, too, have filed nomination as an independent candidate.”

Municipal property has also been vandalized during the clash.
