More than dozen police injured in a clash between police and group supporting monarchy in Nepalgunj

Police and supporters of monarchy clashed in Nepalgunj when a group supporting monarchy were obstructed from placing statue of the late king Birendra Shah, on June 2. More than dozen police were injured in the clash when the pro-monarch group pelted stones. Police fired 4 rounds of warning shots to control the situation. According to the police, the pro-monarch group alleged that if statues could be removed in the republic, they could place statue out of devotion as well. They also destroyed the statue of Setu BK.
