Jitendra Mahato, a local of Bardibas-9, was allegedly physically assaulted by Ghuran Mahato, a ward chairperson of the same municipality on July 7. According to the victim, the ward chairperson verbally abused him in the ward office when he had gone there to collect recommendations for COVID-19 relief for his aunt and other locals. Jitendra alleged that the accused started to capture video from his phone and when he requested the ward chairperson to stop recording, the ward chairperson slapped him.

The ward chairperson stated that he had not physically assaulted Jitendra, instead he accused Jitendra of assaulting him.
