Former district secretary and general committee member of Nepali Congress physically assaulted

Jiwacha Gupta, a former district secretary and general committee member of the Nepali Congress was physically assaulted by 8/10 people including Shiva Shankar Jha a ward chairperson of Siraha municipality-12 of Siraha on July 27. Gupta was physically assaulted in a dispute on the subject of land registration in the Land revenue office. According to the president of the Nepali Congress Siraha, Yadav, the victim sustained serious injuries in his head, eyes, and other parts of the body. He further alleged that the police filed the complaint on the charge of disorderly behavior even though it can be clearly seen that it was attempted murder. 

Yadav submitted a memorandum to the home minister demanding to take legal action against the accused and those responsible for the incident. According to the memorandum, though the CCTV footage is public and it can be clearly acknowledged that a group of people physically assaulted but the police is taking long to take action against the accused. It was mentioned in the memorandum that when the ward chairperson Jha and others tried to illegally register the land donated to the Shiva Parvati temple in the village after he objected to it, General Committee member Gupta was beaten up by the ward chairperson Jha himself. Subas Budhathoki, spokesperson of District Police Office, Siraha, informed that the case of disorderly behavior has been registered and the investigation has been carried forward. He said that the search for the accused is going on.
