A doctor working in the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences was beaten by an employee of the institute. Dhanraj Shahi, a fourth-level employee of the Academy, went to the emergency department around 9 am on Thursday morning to get his son's stitches removed.
Shahi requested Emergency Department Dr. Karan Shah to cut the stitches. The doctor who was looking after the patient said that he would cut the stitches only after 11 o'clock. When the employee Shahi was not satisfied with the doctor's words, the dispute started to increase. When Dr. Shah said that the stitches could not be cut immediately, Shahi resorted to physical attack on the doctor. He punched and kicked the doctor and also hit him with a stick.
After the incident, the doctors of the Academy have demanded strict action against the perpetrator saying that they are unsafe. Doctor Shah sustained serious injury on his head and stomach. They are saying that they are not safe from the locals who are raising slogans of 'Nay Bel, Only Jail'. The doctor is afraid to reveal his name about the incident.
