Man injured during assault in Rautahat dispute dies while undergoing treatment

A person has died after being beaten during a dispute related to irrigation canal. The deceased has been identified as 77-year-old Gopal Ghimire, a resident of Panitol, Chandranigahapur-4, Rautahat.
Ghimire was physically assaulted by a group on August 13 during a dispute over irrigation canal. Ghimire who sustained serious injury in the incident died while undergoing treatment in Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu, according to DSP Sunil Malla.
After the death of Ghimire on Monday, the locals protested in front of the area police office, Chandranigahapur. Locals have registered a case of murder and demanded an investigation into the incident.
