Kanchanpur, Kisori lai balatkar gareko arop ma giraftar. A 14-year-old girl, who worked at the house of Basanta Rawal of Bhimdatta Municipality-12 in the district, has accused Rawal of raping her time and again. Sharing her predicament she had reportedly undergone while working at the house of Rawal at a press conference in the district on Monday, she said that the first time Rawal raped her was on April 15 when Rawal’s wife had gone to her maternal house. She said that she did not reveal the incident to police immediately after the first attack as she was threatened by Rawal that her father and brother will be relieved of work in his house if she did so. The girl is currently under the care of Mahendranagar-based Women and Elderly Service Center (WESC). Sharadha Chand, chairperson of the WESC, said that after the victim was impregnated by Rawal, she was taken to Banbasa in India where she had an abortion. Chand said that she has gotten hold of the girl’s health report prepared by the Sub Regional Hospital in Dadeldhura, which said that “some rotten foetus were found in her womb”. The girl was admitted to the hospital after she complained of stomach pain after she had undergone abortion, she said. The WESC chair further said that police are refusing to lodge a complaint against Rawal, and accused the police of trying to weaken the case by trying to let the last date to lodge a complaint expire. Superintendent of Police Chhabi Lal Joshi said that they are yet to lodge a formal complaint due to a lack of substantial evidences to prove the incident. He said that they are inquiring with regional hospital as to whether the girl had undergone abortion or not.
