Kathmandu, E -nyaypalika seva aja bata suru KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court will begin e-service to give court dates to the clients and issue summons from tomorrow. The apex court’s decision to start e-judiciary comes in the backdrop of Chief Justice Ram Kumar Prasad Shah’s pledge to better court services and to ensure easy access to justice. The apex court will send SMS to its clients for three main services - registration of a case, final hearing date and status of the case at the bench, said SC Under Secretary Chank Mani Aryal. The SC has developed three softwares to realise the goals of e-judiciary, he added. Clients having to appear at the Supreme Court will be able to take the date from 40 designated courts (31 district courts and nine of the 16 appellate courts), said Aryal. Clients can take the Supreme Court date from the courts of their home districts or the nearby districts. All district courts in the Tarai, excluding Rautahat, are included in the 31 district court extending the e-judiciary service. Service will be available at appellate courts in Biratnagar, Rajbiraj, Janakpur, Hetauda, Pokhara, Baglung, Butwal, Nepalgunj and Mahendranagar. Hill district courts to offer this service are Makwanpur, Doti, Gulmi, Tanahun, Syangja, Kaski, Myagdi, Parbat and Baglung. SC would serve summons through these 40 courts. In the second phase to start in two months, the apex court will introduce the service in 51 other courts. Special Court and other tribunals have not been included in the scheme. But Aryal said they could be integrated into the system later. Introduction of the new system means that the courts can serve notices in two hours and will not have to send summons by post, which is time consuming. Court officials said the court would have photos of the clients and their thumb prints in their records so that they could be easily verified by other courts while giving court dates. Ho
