1‚812 convicts absconding in Kaski

Kaski, Kaski ma 1812 jana apradhi farar. POKHARA: Kaski District Court said as many as 1,812 convicts of various crimes are on the run in the district. Court’s record keeper Dinbandhu Baral said the Court is yet to collect Rs 57 million fines from them. The jail term slapped on them will accumulate to 2,071 years till mid-November of this year, Baral added. Of absconding culprits, 760 were sentenced with both fines and imprisonment. The list of fugitives also includes 19 foreigners, convicted in drug trade and child sexual abuses cases. The Court official, however, said verdict implementation rate of the Kaski Court is more satisfactory than other district courts. In a bid to implement past verdicts, the government has provisioned that persons who inform the Court about absconding culprits will get 25 per cent share of fines collected. If anyone helps to arrest on-the-run criminals, they will be get extra commission from the state. The provisions, however, have not been much effective, Baral commented.
