District Court of Bhaktapur has awarded jail sentence of two and half year to Binod Basnet, 21, of Bojh VDC-1 in Dolakha and currently living in Bhaktapur on charge of attempting to rape a 16-year-old girl. The Court also fined Rs 1,000 to the complainant for recording false statement at the hearing. Single bench of District Court Judge Nagendra Lal Karna issued a verdict on December 14 regarding the case. The accused had offered hera ride in his mini-truck with a registration number Ba 1 Kha 4460to her home and attempted to rape her inside it on August 24. She was rescued by the locals after hearing her scream. The accused was arrested by the police on August 26 after the victim lodged a complaint at the police office on August 25. She had a health checkup at TU Teaching Hospital Kathmandu on August 25.
