Transport Entrepreneurs Association’s General Secretary Chandra Lal Neupane and UML District Committee secretary Adi Prasad Neupane have assaulted a journalist on December 29. They beat up Sur Bahadur Singh, the FNJ Jumla secretary, RSS Karnali representative and publisher of Karmali Sarokar daily after calling him at the officer of the Association for publishing a news related to them. The Daily had published a news story, ‘Means of Transport Bankrupts Dozens of Owners’ on December 26, journalist Singh said. According to Singh, his story had expressed the grievance of the vehicle owners and had demanded protection for such entrepreneurs. He added that the assaulter had an option of legal course if the news was wrong while adding they had assaulted a journalist abusing their political access. FNJ Jumla chairperson Baram Bahadur Mahat condemned the incident saying repeated assault against the journalists for writing news was against the norm of rule of law.
