22-year-old Shakti Gurung of  Saptakoshi Municipality-1 has been arrested on February 9 on the charge of raping a 51-year-old woman. Area Police Office, Kanchanrup’s Inspector Umesh Lamsal said that Gurung was accused of raping the woman around 9 pm on February 8 at her home. A case of rape has been filed in the District Court and custody time has been extended for seven days. ASI Shreedev Yadav said that the woman was brought in the zonal hospital in Rajbiraj on February 10 but medical checkup could not be conducted adding it would be done on February 11. The accused has claimed the accusation as a false on.
