Bir Hospital Union Secretary among three held for duping a doctor

Police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including the secretary of a union at Bir Hospital, for allegedly duping a doctor aspiring a post-graduate degree. Deepak Mudhvari, former general secretary of Nepal Health Professionals’ Association, and medical representatives Rabi Poudel and Rajesh Kahar were arrested on the charge of duping Dr. Manoj Kumar Shah of Janamaitri Hospital, Balaju, of Rs 6 million promising him to get through the entrance examination of Bir Hospital’s National Academy of Medical Sciences. “Mudhvari convinced Shah to deposit the money by producing a fake minute of the hospital and also presented a counterfeit deputation letter,” said SSP Pushkar Karki, chief of Metropolitan Police Crime Investigation Division, Hanumandhoka. “But after failing the test, Shah demanded them to return the money. This time these people gave him a cheque with no money in the account.” The trio has been sent to Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka for further investigations.
