A 20-year-old girl was gang-raped in Punarwas municipality of Kanchanpur while she was attending a marriage ceremony. Police inspector of Area Police Office Tribhuwan, Nar Bahadur Khadka said "Last night when the locals were occupied in the marriage ceremony, a group of seven to eight youths took the young woman in the nearby sugarcane field and raped her". Police said that the victim who remains unconscious is undergoing treatment at a regional Seti Zonal Hospital. Police arrested the main accused Govinda Rana while five others involved in the rape incident absconded.
