District Court of Siraha has sentenced Ram Avatar Yadav, 26, of Nahara Rigaul VDC-9 one year with a penalty of Rs 10,000 on February 22 on charge of child marriage and polygamy. A single bench of District Court Judge Uddav Prasad Bhattarai issued an order regarding the case, said deputy government attorney Hem Chandra Regmi. The other accused of polygamy Neha Chaudhary, 15, of Mahesh Bari VDC-5 was acquitted by the court as she was underage. Prem Shila Devi Yadav, 24, first wife of the accused, had lodged a complaint against him at Area Police Office of Lahan on August 21 on charge of polygamy. The accused were arrested by the police on the same day. Neha Chaudhary was handed over to her parents according to the order issued by the Office of District Attorney and Ram Avatar was released on bail amount of Rs 30,000 by a court order on September 12.
