Bandh Affects Normal Life

Bandh called to protest the government's failure in arresting those involved in the killing of Faijan Ahamad, General Secretary of Islamic Association Nepal has affected normal life in various districts on November 27.

 

According INSEC Banke district representative Narayan Subedi, all public, private and government vehicles leaving from and coming to Nepalgunj were stranded due to the traffic strike called by Faijan Ahamad Struggle Committee in the district. The committee imposed bandh with nine-point demands, said Mohamad Aslam Halwai.

 

Sunsari representative Sukdev Chaudhari said that the bandh called by relatives, locals and Faijan Ahamad Struggle Committee had brought the vehicular movement to a standstill in various places including Bhokraha, Inaruwa, Laukahi. The agitators burnt tyres and chanted slogans demanding arrest of the culprit involved in the incident in various places in the district.

 

Kapilvastu representative Nandaram Paudel reported that agitators have obstructed traffic by burning tyres and placing vehicles in different places including Taulihawa, Krishnanagar, Jitpur and Chandrauta leaving hundreds of passengers heading to different location stranded.

 

The agitators had taken control over six motorbikes, four trucks and two buses in Taulihawa-Jitpur section of the road. The vehicles were handed over to their respective owners in the late evening.

 

An unidentified gang had gunned down Faijan Ahamad in front of Ghantaghar, Kathmandu on September 26, 2011. Those involved in the murder have not been identified yet.
