Maiti Nepal urges for new measures against trafficking

2015-04-06

Bagmati, Kathmandu, Kathmandu

Maiti Nepal has urged the government to adopt a special measure to control women trafficking, reasoning the traffickers have begun a new route to deport girls/women to Gulf countries via Bangladesh from Kakarbhitta border pointy of east Nepal. When India introduced 'no objection letter' for the Nepali people going to the third countries, especially to the Gulf, via its airport, the traffickers explored the new route for the crime. Maiti Nepal, an organization working against women trafficking, has made the decision after their research. The crime was revealed after the Immigration Department of Bangladesh returned Nepali women heading to Saudi Arabia bearing passports without visa stamps. The government has strongly urged to be more aware and take special measures before the problem grows worse.
