Dingla Police has detained Kamal Darjee, 45, of Kudakkaule VDC-5, Bhojpur on April 11 on the charge of trying to marry a 14-year-old eighth-grader girl after convincing her to elope on March 17. The girl’s family had filed an application to find their missing daughter informing them about her physical features at Kudakkaule police station on March 17. Darjee was arrested by Chichila police station, Sangkhuwasabha and then handed over to Dingla police. Father of the girl demanded strong action against the accused while ASI Gyan Bahadur Shrestha said that the case on the due process. Darjee along with the girl became out of contact on March 17 and were traced only on April 10. Child Rights Officer Suman Adhikari commented that it was a crime to try to get married to a minor as they cannot decide properly for themselves.
