A woman allegedly took her one-and-half-month-old son's life before attempting suicide following a domestic dispute in Saptari on Sunday. She was saved by her neighbours. Identified as Shakuntala Sah (21), the woman, who is second wife of Prakash Sah in Rajibiraj-5 of the district, poured kerosene over the infant's body and fatally ignited fire before trying to self-immolate today, according to police. She had fought with her husband, who had returned from Dubai of the United Arab Emirates a few days ago. A neighbour said that the duo had developed misunderstandings after she tried to stop her husband from returning to Dubai. They had a brawl a couple of days ago, the neighbour added. Prakash had married Shakuntala two years ago after his first wife began "developing an emotional distance from him", police said. Later, his first wife also went to Israel for employment. Meanwhile, the woman has been referred to a Biratnagar-based hospital after primary treatment at Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital. The minor's body has been kept at the Rajbiraj-based hospital for autopsy.
