District Court of Siraha has acquitted 21-year-old Shiva Datta Yadav of Janaki Nagar VDC-7 on April 20. He was accused of raping an 8-year-old girl on March 5. A single bench of District Court judge Binod Kumar Pokhrel issued the verdict regarding the case, said government attorney Hem Chandra Regmi. The accused was acquitted after the victim's party turned hostile, added Regmi. The victim's family had lodged a complaint at DPO, Siraha on March 5 accusing him of raping the girl. On the same day, the victim underwent a health checkup at District Hospital. He was arrested by the police on March 9 and was remanded in custody by a District Court order of April 2.
