The coordinator of the independent Madhes campaign, CK Raut, has been arrested by Itahari Area Police Office on Tuesday. Raut was giving an interview to a local Television channel at the time of the arrest. DSP Binod Sharma confirmed the arrest of Raut and said he will be indicted on the charges of treason. Raut, who is advocating a secessionist campaign, has been arrested time and again for his anti-national activities. Raut, who was arrested on October 8 and filed a case at the Special Court for advocating a separate national anthem and flag meant for a separate Madhes nation in the coming days, was given a clean-chit on April 23 by the court citing lack of enough claims.
