Police arrested 42-year-old Shaktiman Maharjan of Kathmandu Metropolis-23 and currently living in Pokhara Sub-metropolis-6 on the charges of raping a 7-year-old girl on August 9. Police said that he was arrested after the girl’s family filed an FIR on August 4 accusing him of raping her and then forcing her into unnatural sex. Maharjan absconded on August 5. The girl’s medical checkup was conducted at the Western Regional Office on August 8. Police said that legal proceeding has begun against the accused.
